GRADUATE STUDENT FINDS 
SILVER DRAGON

  Metagaming's $10,000.00 treasure 
hunt is over.  The hidden silver dragon 
has been found by Thomas Davidson, 
a PhD candidate in chemistry at the 
University of Texas at Austin.  Thomas 
gets to keep the silver dragon and wins 
the $10,000.00 prize for the finder 
from Metagaming.
  The clues Thomas used to find the 
silver dragon were in TREASURE OF 
THE SILVER DRAGON, a $3.95 fantasy 
adventure game published by Meta-
gming.  The silver dragon treasure hunt 
is part of Metagaming's promotion for 
THE FANTASY TRIP line of games.  
THE FANTASY TRIP is a budget alter-
native to fantasy role-playing games like 
DUNGEONS & DRAGONS.  All items

HIDDEN IN SUNSPOT, 
NEW MEXICO

  The silver dragon had been hidden 
near the solar observatory at Sunspot, 
New Mexico.  The solar research facility 
at Sunspot has capabilities unmatched 
anywhere else in the world.  The site was 
chosen for its unique scientific value and 
to help dramatize the importance of solar 
research to the nation's future.
  Metagaming had planned to keep the 
silver dragon's hiding place secret for at 
least a year.  However, the coincidence 
of Thomas' residence in the same city 
in which Metagaming is located prompts 
revelation.

AUSTIN BOOKSELLERS WINS 
ACAPULCO TRIP

  Thomas purchased his copy of TREA-
SURE OF THE SILVER DRAGON at 
Austin Booksellers on the Drag.  The 
store wins a trip for two to Acapulco 
for being the retailer to sell TREASURE 
OF THE SILVER DRAGON to the 
dragon's finder.

THOMAS DAVIDSON

  Thomas Davidson is a 32 year old 
graduate student in chemistry at the 
University of Texas in Austin.  Thomas 
has a Research Fellowship and will com-
plete work on his thesis in about two 
years.  Thomas is married and lives with 
his wife, Sharon, near campus.  Sharon, 
an undergraduate in petroleum engineer-
ing, accompanied Thomas on his search 
for the silver dragon.
  Thomas began gaming about two years 
ago.  His introduction to gaming was with 
MELEE and WIZARD, the two introduc-
tory games in THE FANTASY TRIP 
line.  Thomas still games actively with 
the rapidly growing Austin gaming crowd.

NEW 1981 TREASURE HUNT

  The disappointed silver dragon seekers 
who were a step behind Thomas Davidson 
won't have long to wait.  Metagaming will 
release a new treasure hunt game, UNI-
CORN GOLD, in mid 1981.  It will be 
similar to TREASURE OF THE SILVER 
DRAGON and also have a $10,000 
prize for some lucky gamer.
  So cheer up, you down hearted 
gamers!  If Thomas Davidson did it this
